Thank you Beachbody & Shakeology

I may of 2009 I ruptured my Pec Tendon Major from my left arm. This injury required repair surgery and about a 6 month period of recovery and rehab. I was 184lbs and 10% body fat when this injury occured. I was extremely fit doing P90X, Tony Horton 1-on-1 and P90X+. This injury caused a spiral effect of emotions, depession and some weight gain. My muscles atrophied, I took solice in comfort foods and struggled with staying positive.



My shining light was the Beachbody community. Knowing that I will recover and that it just will take time was something I knew but I struggled with everyday. I just wanted to be better and to be back into my normal rotation but that wasn't possible. But what was possible was finding time to keep me active. I couldn't do much but what I could do, I did and I did to the best of my ability. I wasn't always consistent with my workouts but I worked out at least 3 times a week and I drank my shakeology.


I have recently gotten back into eating well consistently and exercising 6 times a week. At the end of the year I had a physical. I was so scared. I really was afraid that the increase in weight and body fat that had occured between May and December effected my numbers. When I saw my doctor I weighed in at 199 lbs and my body fat was about 18%. Later that week, I recieved a phone call from my doctor and he couldn't have been more pleased. He told me and I quote, "My numbers were better than perferct. "



I used to be a pharmaceutical sales rep and I spoke to a lot of physicians. They were so frustrated with the lack of control they had over their patients. Doctors would give their patients directions on how to eat better and exercise in hopes they would not have to place them on meds. Sadly, as we get older and more sedentary more and more Americans are placed on medications. So why do I work out, drink shakeology and eat well 80 to 90% of the time. Because the "Alternative SUCKS." My injury was a reawakening to the possiblities of what my life could be like if I let my injury get the best of me. The alternative of being sedentary, gaining weight, eating like crap which over time leads to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and then countless medications that never solve the problem, they just manage the problem. That's not for me and it doesn't have to be for you either. The only real solution is exercise, proper nutrition and a commitment to yourself not face the alternative. Decide to take action today.
My injury was a slippy slope that had me heading towards that alternative. The constant support and motivation that I get from being an Independent Beachbody Coach kept me sane. It pushed me to keep me drinking my shakeology every day even though I couldn't workout as much as I would like to. By drinking shakeology once a day, I knew I was fulling my body with what it needed. I drink a shake a day every day.
