Weekly Coach Recognition (12/16-12/22)

Hey Coaches,

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday and a very Merry Christmas. This is a time to rejoyce, be happy, and start to reflect on what an amazing year 2010 has been. I hope you enjoy the holiday, and I know it is a busy time of year but give yourself that gift of exercise even if it is for 20 minutes. Get it done and enjoy the season. 2010 is quickly coming to a close and 2011 will begin with a roar. I encourage everyone to sit down with their Coach, loved one, neighbor and make a list of what you want to achiece, and when you want to achieve it in 2011. Weight lose, sick pack, help more coaches, increase income, decrease debt, whatever. Having clear goals that are written will help you to see where you are going and then make a plan to get there.

You can't run before you can walk, you can't walk before you can crawl, and in the beginning someone carried you. But it happened in that order. Someone carried you until it was time you realized what you wanted. When no one would get it for you, you figured out by scooting across the ground you could get it. Then you learned to pull yourself up. You may have fallen down from time to time but you kept picking yourself up until you found your feet. Then slowly, you put one foot in front of the other but you fell down. You may have cried until someone picked you back up but most likely you tried again on your own. You pulled yourself up, focused on your target, put one foot in front of the other until you were walking. And over time, as you grew, as you fell and learned what to do and what not to do, you got better. This is life. These are the basics.

With every new journey it is understanding there are fundamentels and a starting point we all need to master before moving to the next step. As we Master them it is important to remember that there are others just beginning that same journey. As we become better and proficient in the fundamentals, remember to teach them as if you were learning to crawl for the first time, or step on your own with no help.

Too many of us in business, in athletics, in school, in relationships, try to run before we can walk. Master the fundamentals, teach others to master the fundamentals, teach them to teach others all while you continue to stay true and focused on the fundamentals that got you were you are today and then your life is yours to own. And when that happens...pure & simple jubilation.

Learn. Do. Teach. Repeat.

Home Party Recgonition
The name of the game is Getting Started Right and creating duplication inside your organization so Coaches learn to be system dependent and the system work from you whether you are there or not.

Perfect example of this is Kimball Bocklet's Grand Opening Party. About a month ago I helped Kimball's Coach and Sister-In-Law, Terry Bocklet, have her Grand Opening. Terry turned around and helped her Coach Kimball do the same thing. Kimball made up 5 different types of Shakes for tasting. She had 8 people show up and each of them bought something. Two of them signed up for Shakeology HD! Kimball has lost 10 pounds since she started using Shakeology and is now really excited to help others do the same. Congrats Kimball!

Congrats to Andrea (Riehlman) Wallace for her Grand Opening. I was able to attend this party to support Andrea and show her and her Sponsors (Her Parents, Beth & Pete Riehlman) just how easy and fun Grand Openings are to do. Andrea had 8 people in attendance, utilzed 3rd party tools to generate exposures and answer questions and showed her new Coaches in attendance just how easy and fun Grand Openings can be if you follow the system. Great Job Andrea.

Wayne Brockman, had his grand opening and he did an outstanding job. Wayne had about 12 people attend his party and 8 were family members. This was the largest party I have been too with the most family members in one room. It was great. Wayne followed the same format as Kimball, and Andrea. His family loved Shakeology and the majority all express an interest in learning more about the Shake especially after they were able to taste it. Wayne's party also resulted in the addition to his very first Coach, his sister, Jessica Brockman. Wayne is now half way to Emerald and he will soon be adding his wife, Chrissy to his team and should advance to Emerald next Thursday. Great job Wayne!!!

THE PARADOX OF OUR AGE

We have bigger houses but smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgement;
more experts, but more problems;
more medicines, but less healthiness;
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet
the new neighbor.
We build more computers to hold more
information to produce more copies then ever,
but have less communication;
We have become long on quantity,
but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods
but slow digestion;
Tall men but short character;
Steep profits but shallow relationships.
It's a time when there is much in the window,
but nothing in the room.

Simple, Basic, Fundamental.

I've been hearing this a lot as I spend time out traveling, doing GSR's with new coaches and their new coaches. Launching businesses with Grand Openings and the one thing that I constantly hear is "The Coach Office is confusing" and a lot of questions about details that have no real impact on our day-2-day business. (Don't go out to do Beachbody, do Beachbody while you are out).

A new coach (about a week old) was asking me about volume and placement with a look of terror in her face as she asked me these questions. I could tell she felt that understanding how everything works was imperative to run her business. I let her know that her question, though valid, wasn't important at that time and not to concern herself with that. When I told her this, a weight from her face was lifted and she smiled and with a sound of relief she said "Oh, thank goodness."

I'm asking all my coaches to refocus. To clear of the lense and if you are new or if have been a Coach for a while just remember what it was like when you joined. Scared, overwhelmed, skeptical, cynical, and very timid.

I'm asking for all my leaders and new coaches who sponsor Coaches into this business to tread lightly on new Coaches. Get them doing simple things in their business anyone can do.

It starts with the Basic Fundamentals of the Game Plan that drives this business.

1) Get all Coaches Started Right (GSR Interview, Grand Opening)

2) 2 exposures a day. (Make a list of 10 to 20 names. 2 emails a day. "I'm fired up about this and you need to watch this video.")

3) Attend a weekly event. Local: Fit Club, Home Party, Briefing/Training. National: Summit, Game Plan Training

4) Personal Development - "Go to work harder on yourself than you do on your business." Read 10 pages of a good book, Listen to 15 minutes of a good audio,

5) Be a product of the product - 30+ minutes of exercise a day, drink your Shakeology. "You can't recommend a meal you didn't eat, a movie you didn't see, a doctor you never saw."
Repeat. You cannot do Step 2 if you didn't do Step 1. Baby steps. One foot in front of the other and allow your Coaches to grow into this business.

It's a simple business. It's not easy, you still have to do it but it's a simple business and people love to complicate it. The best marketing tool, the best "pitch" is your own passion for a product that you experienced. You are the 20 second commerical. No one will ever argue with your passion, or your WHY. Become an expert on your 20 second commercial. "I got started b/c I lost weight, got in shape, love helping people. The products are awesome and you need to watch this video ASAP. You'll be glad you did." Then get out of the way and let the 3rd party tool play.

You don't have to be great at this business, you just have to be busy. Busy sharing your 20 second commercial, accompanied with a 3rd party tool, then followed up with a call asking "What did you like, the fitness, the business or both?" Sort don't sell, work with the willing and repeat.

BRING IT!!

HOME PARTY RECOGNITION:
Terry Bocklet
, Diamond Coach, had her very first Beachbody Home party on the 4th. I was able to be there live in attendance because I was traveling down to Long Island for a Tony Horton Super Saturday workout. Terry's party went extremely well. She had 16 people in attendance, 4 were new coaches. Terry retailed one Ten Minute Trainer, a Shakeology workout and I believe a Shakeolgy HD order. Terry also had a brand new Coach in attendance who brought two friends. This Coach told Terry she was only being a Coach for the discount and wasn't looking to make any money. Both of her guest after watching Introducing Team Beachbody video and tasting Shakeology decided to order Shakeology HD. Because Terry did her party, she helped a new Coach make some money and help two friends get started towards a better, more healthy life with Shakeology.

Annette Brown is a brand new Coach who has been drinking Shakeology for the last 6 months as a customer. I messaged Annette one day on Facebook and I told her I was tired of taking her $30 with each order and that it was time to become a Coach. Annette agreed and enrolled. We did her Getting Started Right and scheduled her launch party. Annette had two guests attend, her mother and her sister. After watching the Introducing Team Beachbody video Annette's sister decided that she wanted to get in the Shakeology business and joined her sister in this new Adventure.

Kisha Scott is another brand new Coach who has a passion for health, fitness and helping people. I helped Kisha do her home party via Skype and Kisha also had two guests attend. They watched the Introducing Team Beachbody video and had some Shakeology. Both guests are extremely interested in learning more about the Coach Opportunity and Shakeology. Kisha will follow up with her friends and if it's the right time will invite them to get started, if not kisha will continue to do her 2 exposures and continue to sow the seed.

Marc Martinez is a veteran Diamond Coach. He's been a customer of Beachbody's for ages, and a Coach on my team for almost two years. Like myself one year ago, Marc neve did a Home Party. With constent poking and prodding by me telling him "Marc, we are not talking until I get a date for your home party", we set the date and followed the system to lauch his party. Marc had 6 people in attendance, 3 were local Coaches who after the party were inspired to set a date to their parties. Marc also had three guests and one of the 3 made the decision to join Marc and his team of Active Caring Coaches.

The Impact You Can Have...

Everyone one makes changes in their lives. Some are positive and some are negative. The positive changes tend to have a lasting effect and attract more people who are looking to make the same change. In Summer of 2004, I bought a workout program called Power 90. It took me a year to commit to the program but once I did I lost 31lbs in 90 days. I lost weight and I kept it off. In early 2006 I used the not-as-popular-as-it-is-today P90X system and I got into the best shape of my life. I was also smoking at the time. These weight loss and physical changes inspired me to make one of the toughest changes of my life and on September 4, 2006 (my birthday) I quit smoking. I struggled with maintaining my weight at 185 and I yo-yoed to 205lbs. You can watch my story here.

Long story short, in March 2007 I signed up to be an Independent Team Beachbody Coach. Being a Team Beachbody Coach as allowed me to do great things so far. It helps me to commit to a healthier lifestyle, it affords me opportunities I normally wouldn't have such as going back to school for a new undergrad degree, and most importantly it helps me to inspire friends and family to take similar actions with their own health and fitness journey.

Two of my good friends from college saw my results and joined me in my Beachbody adventure. Brian Smith lost over 50lbs and David Spennacchio lost 40lbs and both are now running their Beachbody Business part time as they help others acheive their goals. My mom started on the Shakeology program this past January and lost 21lbs in 90s. She has more energy, is more positive and has kept the weight off for almost the entire year.

My most recent family and friend story comes from my cousin, Brandon Tufillaro. Brandon is a big guy. About 6'4" and weighed 350 lbs. He called me one day telling me he ordered INSANITY (another quality Beachbody program). I called him instantly so we could discuss his goals and most importantly connecting him to a program that I thought a man of his size could do. INSANITY is a great program but for someone with Brandon's size and bad knees, I knew it would be tough for him and the risk of injury was high. We spoke for about an hour and we both decided that P90X was a the better program for him to start with. See P90X, though extreme, offers a "sane" approach to fitness and health. Do what you can, modify when necessary, take breaks, and just "DO YOUR BEST and FORGET THE REST".

I first met Tony Horton in July of 2007 and have been very fortunate to hear the man speak live on numerous occassions. Fitness isn't about ego or competition. It's about doing the best you can with the body you currently have and if you are consistent and vary your exercises (the whole concept behind P90X), you'll improve asyou finish your 90 day program and create the body you've always wanted. A body that is more durable and less valunerable to injury. So many people who I coach, stop the program because they said they couldn't keep up. I wanted to shake them. P90X isn't about keeping up. If you could keep up with Tony and the kids on Day 1, you probably wouldn't need P90X. It's about doing your best and forgetting the rest. Bring it to the level that your body will let you and back off when necessary. Hit the pause button, take breaks, or longer breaks. It's ok to do that. This is what my cousin and I spoke about before starting P90X. We set goals and we also set expectations. He wass 350 lbs so I made sure he knew that it was OK for him to do Push Ups on his knees to start and as he lost weight, and the weight got less he could work up to standard push-ups. My cousin Brandon is a little past day 60 and has lost 50 lbs so far. I am so proud of him and I am truely excited to see what his future fitness journey brings him. Bring It Brandon!

How to Have Your Best Year Ever.

Jim Rohn's Biography

For more than 40 years, Jim Rohn honed his craft like a skilled artist-helping people the world over sculpt life strategies that have expanded their imagination of what is possible. Those who had the privilege of hearing him speak can attest to the elegance and common sense of his material. It is no coincidence, then, that he is widely regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of our time, and thought of by many as a national treasure. Jim authored countless books and audio and video programs, and helped motivate and shape an entire generation of personal-development trainers and hundreds of executives from America's top corporations.

Born to an Idaho farming family in the mid-1900s, Jim was ingrained with a work ethic that has served him well throughout his life. At 25, he met his mentor Earl Shoaff. And over the next six years he made his first fortune, yet didn't get into speaking until he moved to Beverly Hills, California, when a friend at the Rotary Club asked him to tell his success story, which Rohn titled "Idaho Farm Boy Makes It to Beverly Hills."

His speech went over so well that he received more invitations to share it, and better yet, they started paying him for it. In the beginning, he spoke in front of college and high-school classes and at service clubs, before moving on to seminars in 1963, which launched him into the personal-development business. From then on, Jim Rohn became a trailblazer in the self help and personal development industry, impacting the lives of millions through his life-changing material.

Jim Rohn focused on the fundamentals of human behavior that most affect personal and business performance. His is the standard to which those who seek to teach and inspire others are compared. He possessed the unique ability to bring extraordinary insights to ordinary principles and events, and the combination of his substance and style captures the imagination of those who hear or read his words.

Jim is known as one of the great wordsmiths of our time. Here is a sampling from Jim's Treasury of Quotes that reflect on his philosophy on life and business:

Skills: Don't wish it were easier; wish you were better. Don't wish for less problems; wish for more skills. Don't wish for less challenges; wish for more wisdom.

Growth: Don't join an easy crowd. You won't grow. Go where the expectations and the demands to perform and achieve are high.

Change: We generally change ourselves for one of two reasons: inspiration or desperation.

Activity: The few who do are the envy of the many who watch.

What the hell

Three years ago I made a decision that changed the direction of my life. I said, "What the hell" and signed up as a Beachbody Coach. I had no direction, no purpose and no significance in my career and in my life.

I said "what the hell" and three years later my life is drastically better. Where could your life be one year, three years or five years from now if u say, "What the hell" and get involved today?

I am in this for the long haul and I know that this is just the beginning of one hell of an awesome ride. Come with me on this ride. Say "What the hell", sign up today and take your first step.

Don't Let Self Indulgence Weaken Your Life

Don't Let Self Indulgence Weaken Your Life: “How close can I get to the fire and not get burned?” I was unaware of what was happening; how my lifestyle was perpetually weakening me little by little. It was a gradual process. I had assumed I would always be strong. Nobody ever plans to be a failure. Strong people keep their commitments. They guard their commitments. They don't play games with their commitments. What are you committed to?

Daily Hope

Don't Let Carelessness Weaken Your Life

Nobody ever plans to be a failure. It just comes on gradually. Nobody says, “I’m going to be a drug addict” or “I want to break up my marriage” or “I think I’ll destroy my health.” But it starts w/ one little thing and builds and builds until the point that one day we wake up & say, “What happened? This isn’t living." Consider this: Your life is only as strong as your weakest commitment. What are you committed to?

P90X: One on One - The next evolution in Muscle Confusion

The One on One with Tony Horton program is being renamed P90X One on One™ because the entire concept has been upgraded. You can order yours at http://www.joeypetri.com/

You may have heard rumors about "P90neXt," a whole new program of 12 P90X DVDs created to keep the Muscle Confusion™ going after you master the original P90X®. The rumors are true; Tony's developing the program with new experts, new moves, and a new level of results. One on One subscribers will get an exclusive look behind the scenes as Tony puts it together and tries each routine out on YOU FIRST. When it's all done, it'll be called P90X:MC2™, but for now, it's between you and Tony to work out the kinks, one-on-one style.

FAQ's

What is P90X One on One™?

This is Tony unscripted in his personal gym—no frills, no classroom, no cast. (But plenty of confusion.) No plateaus welcome. P90X One on One works just like a magazine subscription: After you sign up, you automatically receive a brand-new workout every month (sometimes they include FREE gifts). Best of all: you can cancel at any time.

How long are the workouts?

In good P90X tradition, the workouts will vary between 50 and 60 minutes.

What is the workout style and intensity?

In Volume 3, Tony experiments with different intensity levels. He mixes things up to keep your muscles guessing. But beware! Some moves are groundbreaking and have never been done before. In the excellently titled Disc 1, “Chest, Back & Balls”, Tony tests his personal limits with a Plyo Push-Up while balancing his feet and hands on stability balls. Unbelievable stuff. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Who is P90X One on One for?

P90X One on One offers a great opportunity for you to reach out to P90X grads who are in good physical shape and looking for more trademark Tony confusion.

The 50% offer

Every subscriber who purchases all 12 discs of P90X One on One, Volume 3 gets a 50% discount on P90X:MC2™ when it becomes available. If you don’t join Volume 3 from the beginning (July 2010), no problem! You can still qualify for this offer. Simply purchase your missing Volume 3 discs from TeachBeachbody.com (and direct your customers to do the same). Once you become eligible for this promotion, we'll notify you via email so you can claim your discount. This offer is not available online. If you're not already a subscriber, now's a better time than ever to get involved.

Facebook contest

On July 6th, we're launching a Facebook contest on the P90X Fan Page. Coaches and fans can submit a video clip of their most unique workout moves. The fan community will vote on all clips. The videos with the most votes will be published on the P90X Fan Page, one of the most active Fan Pages on Facebook with almost 150,000 fans.

Winners also receive awesome prizes (a 1-year subscription to P90X One on One, a 1-year supply of Results & Recovery Formula™, the One on One, Volume 2 Full Edition, Tony-autographed T-shirts), and consideration of the move, with call-out of the submitter’s name, for an upcoming P90X One on One workout.

Solutions

What are you doing to lose weight, feel great, be healthy, have more confidence and get into the best shape of your life?

Are you struggling with going to the gym day in and day out?

Frustrated with the lack of results or poor support and motivation you get from others?

Maybe it's time for a change of scenery and BRING IT at home!

I've been involved with Beachbody since 2004 when I started with Power 90. Between 2004 and 2007 I joined 2 gyms. Never got the results I wanted at the gym b/c:

1) I never went. HA!

2) When I did go, I didn't know what to do. I was so out of shape; I was embarrassed going to the gym. I felt like I had to be in shape just to go. Sad

3) When I finally started to go and string days together (late 2006), a member of the gym and former high school class mate called me fat. "Joey, what's with the double chin? Joey you need to meet with a personal trainer, you need to meet with a nutritionist."

Forget that thank you very much. I already felt horrible about myself and that comment just pushed me over my limits.

I left that gym and may the promise to lose 30 lbs in 90 days with a program called Power 90 that I ordered from TV 2 years earlier in 2004. Here's a link to the letter I wrote myself when I decided to commit: http://www.facebook.com/Joey1459?v=app_2347471856#!/note.php?note_id=98744464712

In 90 Days with Power 90 I lost 31 lbs and I progressed to programs like Power Half Hour, P90X, Hip Hop Abs, P90X+, Turbo Jam, and P90X: 1-on-1 w/ Tony Horton which helped to bring my total weight loss to 49 lbs. 225 down to 176 at my leanest.

So why did Power 90 and P90X and all the other work when my $100+ a month membership to a gym failed? Because of the reasons I mentioned above. I never went because I was lazy and I felt insecure and uncomfortable. I also didn't know what to do. I played college lacrosse and football in high school so I knew how to lift and sort of put together a program for me but my coaches always just told me what to do. I didn't have to think.

That's why the Beachbody programs work. They do all the planning and programming for you. All you have to do is Decide on What your fitness goals are, and which program is going to help me to achieve my goals in the comfort of my own home, with no one looking, judging, or calling you fat. I love Power 90, P90X and all the other Beachbody programs because they are all a comprehensive approach to health and fitness.

The good people at Beachbody provide you with plenty of variety and change within the programs so you don't get bored, you don't plateau and you get results. They give you a schedule that's tested and proven to produce results that say what workout to do everyday so you're not just winging it.

There are in-depth meal plans and recipes to help you to learn how to eat, what to eat, and when to eat. The 2 best Nutritional Tools I got from Beachbody was Michi's Ladder and their Step-by-Step Nutrition Guide. This guide helped me to understand portion control, figuring out how many calories I can eat. For some program it was less (Power 90 average 1600 to 1800 Calories) while for other program (P90X, Insanity, and Turbo Fire about 2400 to 3000) it was more. Get in shape, lose weight, and eat more. But not more junk. The information taught me to cook b/c the recipes were simple and easy to follow.

Beachbody also provided me with the top of the line supplements to help provide me with healthy, more efficient results. The most recent one to come on to the scene and make a big difference in my life is Shakeology. You can learn more about Shakeology at www.TheAlternativeSucks.com.

The last piece to this weight loss puzzle that Beachbody gave me was support from other customers. Now they are called coaches. Regular people like me, who made the decision to get healthy and fit. I became a coach b/c I wanted to help others with their fitness programs and guide them through the program. Just buying the program and having everything laid out for you (what to do, what to eat, what to take) isn't enough. The key ingredient in any program whether it's the gym, weight watchers or Beachbody is YOU!

You have to make the Decision. Once you make the decision you will Succeed. WHY? Because you have the support from a friend who is going to encourage you, motivate you, lead you and inspire you to be the best you possible. With Team Beachbody you're never alone. With peer support and friends from around the country, you'll be motivated to lose the weight and get into the best shape of your life.

So let’s get started.

What are your goals? What do you like to do?

Is weight loss your primary goal? Do you want to lose inches and trim up? Do you want to get lean ripped Abs? Do you want to build muscle, and lose fat? Do you want as little equipment as possible? Do you want to be challenge and pushed to your limits? Do you like to dance, or kick box? Is time a challenge (minutes in the day, days per week? Do you like using weights? Beachbody has a program for you.

If you said Weight Loss is your primary goal check out these programs. If you are into weights and don't really like to dance or learn choreographed moves go with Power 90:

Want to build long, strong, lean muscle, lose fat, be challenged, use very little equipment, use weights or just body weight? These programs are for you:

Are your goals more south? Are you looking to slim down and trim up you butt, legs, and thighs? These programs are all you:

Do you struggle with time? You only have time for 20 minutes to a half hour a day? Here's your answer:

Lastly, is poor nutrition and diet your biggest obstacle? You just don't have time for breakfast? You hate eating veggies? Or you're looking for the ultimate health drink to maximize your performance of your workouts? This drink has it all and it's called Shakeology.

Tony Horton's 11 Laws.

Tony Horton is one of the world's most respected (and motivational) fitness experts, Tony gets people in incredible shape fast. He's most famous for creating such programs as the efficient 10-Minute Trainer®, the effective Power 90® , and the extreme P90X®.

I have learned so much from my experience with Tony, whether it has been from working out to Power 90® or P90X®, reading his blog, or attending his ftness camps, the man's experience and wealth of knowledge that I've learned from him must be shared with all of you.

What I'm about to post is really just the tip of the iceburg. The adventure of change truely starts to happen when you Decide. Commit. Succeed. with Team Beachbody and their fitness programs. What I'm about to share are Tony's "11 Laws" that he uses to develop his own fitness workouts and when he creates programs like Power 90® and P90X®.

To get a more indepth look at each one of Tony Horton's "11 Laws" join the Team Beachbody Club at JOEYPETRI.com (the first 30 days are free and you can cancel at any time). Once you have joined go to "Get Fit > Trainers > Tony Horton > and explore all the goodies his mailbag has to offer as well as so many other gems like customized meal plans, recipes, and nutrition tools. Watch Trainer Tips, Healthy Eating Tips and Style Tips right on your computer. All these tools are available to you and will help you transform and maintain your fitness transformation. They helped me and I know they can help you.

This is part one in a series on Tony's guide to health and fitness to view the rest check out the Team Beachbody Club. The "11 Laws" will be examined in greater detail in subsequent issues.

1. Variety. Variety is the spice of life and fitness. A lifetime of health and fitness is achievable when you can think outside the box. You have to mix it up all the time. Stay curious, creative, and stick with the kinds of workouts that you enjoy. A variety of exercises, workouts, and sports will allow you to avoid injuries, plateaus, and boredom.

2. Consistency. Improvement and change occur when you do things often. Stopping and starting all the time will kill any momentum you need to succeed. You must find ways to stay in the game. Moderate forms of exercise, done consistently, provide far better results than the occasional full-body pummeling. A lifestyle that includes multiple forms of exercise five to six days a week guarantees results.

3. Intensity. YOU'RE TOUGHER THAN YOU THINK. The fear of pain or injury from working out is a mindset steeped in failure. You must learn to "Find the Line." Do the extra rep or two, increase your range of motion, and increase resistance as you get stronger. Intensity goes hand in hand with Variety and Consistency. The combination of the three work together as a triad that creates a platform for success. The programs provide variety. Your plan will keep you consistent.

4. Purpose. Your purpose is to have a better life. Exercise and eating right help you feel better. When you feel better, you do more. When you do more, you meet other people. A healthy lifestyle gives us the energy to be better than before. We want to participate, share, communicate, and build a community—have purpose in our lives. If you had never found Beachbody, you might be right back where you were—isolated, with nothing to share, no purpose, because you weren't doing anything with anyone.

5. Reality. Why do we want life to be different than it is? Why do we think about who we were and who we're going to be more than who we are? We certainly talk a good game about who we are now. Why do we try to predict the future with the hope that wishful thinking is enough to change it? Life is NOT the way it was. It's the way it is. Life is not our fantasy predictions of the future or our glory days of the past. Life is that thing that is happening to you as you read this. We fall into the trap of living in the past and future because right here is not good enough. Back then and up there are keeping you from right now.

6. Sports. Take the onus off of weight, inches, and body fat percentages and put the focus on MOVING—from dancing, rock climbing, and mountain biking to table tennis. I love that ping-pong! Think in terms of "can do" instead of "look like." Sports are fun and help develop balance and coordination—which in turn accelerates your results. Jump, kick, run, spin, throw, skate, shoot, hit, score, compete . . . PLAY!

7. The Plan. SCHEDULE ALL WORKOUTS IN ADVANCE. This creates accountability. Plan an entire month ahead of time. Try to schedule as many workouts as possible with friends who have similar goals. WOWY was developed so that we could find an easy and effective way to stay accountable and work out together. Now we've got people in Trumbull, CT (my hometown), doing Power 90 at the same time with people in Hollywood. That is cool!

8. Sleep (and stress). Stressed out, sleep-deprived people don't eat right and exercise regularly. Stress depletes energy, strength, and desire, while poor sleep habits affect your moods and immune function along with cognitive and motor performance. Burning the candle at both ends makes it impossible to be fit and healthy.

9. Loving It. Exercise and workouts involve commitment, determination, planning, consistency, and intensity. If you don't like what you're doing, there's no way on earth you'll succeed. Enthusiasm is a very big piece of the puzzle. Get creative and stay curious. If you enjoy doing Power 90 exclusively and it works for you, then keep doing it until it doesn't. If you get part way through P90X and it's not your cup of tea, then stop, and do something else. Something's got to bring you back day after day, week after week. Love it (tolerate it) or leave it.

10. Flexibility. Flexibility is the fountain of youth. Flexible people are much less prone to injury. Yoga and stretching allow you to bring more intensity to your workouts. Flexibility is the key component to becoming less vulnerable and more durable. Aging has a funny way of making everything we do harder. Staying limber and flexible is the way to prevent that from happening.

11. Food and Supplements. You are what you eat! Food and supplements are your fuel. The right fuel supplies proper energy and recovery through balanced brain chemistry. The right supplements simply fill in gaps in your diet.

Peace,
Tony H.

You listen to Tony explain each law here. Enjoy!
